Tell us about a threat

With your help we've saved more than 1172 ancient woods from damage and destruction since 1999.

Our oldest and most important trees and woods are vulnerable to the impacts of inappropriate developments. Impacts can be “direct” such as the loss of trees or soil, or “indirect” such as disturbance and pollution from neighbouring land uses.

Please tell us if you have found a possible threat to an ancient wood or veteran tree from a development.

Trees in towns and cities face many threats too. Often local communties are the most effective people to campaign for their protection. Our online advice includes information to help with campaigning.

Whether this is the first threat you’ve spotted or you regularly report threats to us, please tell us what you know, it really could make a huge difference.

Do you have an enquiry about something else?

Contact Us - Woodland Trust

Before you start

We understand the distress and concern that can be caused when trees or woods are threatened and we want to help as many people as possible to save their trees.

Please be aware that our Campaigning team currently has significantly reduced capacity due to staff vacancies. As such, it is very difficult for us to respond to enquiries that relate to threats that do not relate to ancient woods or ancient and veteran trees.

At this moment in time, we would encourage you to access the resources available in our online advice.

While we may not be able to respond to your enquiry, please be assured that we do care and we are interested, but we are presently having to prioritise our involvement where it is most needed. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we hope that the information provided here and on our website is of use to you.

Please help us by checking whether the information and support you require is available in our online advice. This is particularly important if your enquiry is urgent - for example felling is already taking place.

Please note, the Woodland Trust is not a statutory body which means we can advise but are not able to take direct action. However, we are alerted to many threats to ancient woodlands around the country, albeit with limited capacity to take on every case.

Threat details

If you still need help, please include as many details as possible about the nature of the threat facing the trees or wood. This will help us respond more promptly.
